Default Water pump cover,

Hi all,

Anyone have a good schematic or directions to removing water pump cover on a 2002 ninja 500?

I was going to change the gasket as it was leaking.
Do I need to remove the 2 or 3 twelve millimeter bolts underneath?
The solid metal tube attached to the block and pump cover, is it just held on by an o-ring gasket or what?

Any detail would be appreciated, Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

Your fiche does not have a break down?

All I have is the owners manual which has no breakdown and my local shop does not have the service manual in stock. One of the most popular bikes ever, go figure.

Default RE: Water pump cover,

Thank you for the schematic. I guess my big question now is the metal tube that is connected to the pump cover and inserts into the block, how does that release? Is it sealed by an o-ring and it just needs a good tug or what? The cover is loose and is separated from the back plate, but the tube seems to be holding it back.

It looks like 32102, and it looks to be o-rings holding it together? Just give it a good tug I take it? I'll give it a go tomorrow.
