Default Starter keeps turning over after ignition off

Hello everyone. Bought my first bike, 01 ninja 500r with 9,500 miles on it. Not new to riding but I am new to Kawasaki. The problem I am having is once the bike is started (no problems there) when I go to turn the ignition to off, or even use the kill switch on the bars, the starter continues to crank the motor over. I had to disconnect the battery terminal in order to stop it. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have a short in your harness or in your switch. (ignition that is sticking)
