New rider, got some questions...
Just started riding yesterday and I'm lovin it more than I thought I would. I have a 2001 Kawi 500R, which I think is great except for the rearview mirrors...I really cant even use em! All I see is arms and shoulder. I've tried to adjust them every which way but they just dont stick out far enough. I don't mind turning around, but I would like to keep my eyes ahead as much as possible so...any suggestions? Any cheap aftermarket solutions?
Also, in the future I was thinkin bout getting some louder pipes. How much of a pain in the *** is it to put pipes on, and bout how much of a hole is it gonna burn in my wallet?
Other than that...cant wait till this rain stops so I can ride!!!!

RE: New rider, got some questions...
welcome to KF...yeah must bike mirrors suck I do not know if there is AF solution for that bike but I can check when I get to my shop tomorrow. As far as the exhaust it depends if you are looking to get a full system or slip on. Slip On's are easier, full systems reguire you to swap out the stock exhaust headers and pipe with the AF version...it all depends on how much work you want to do also the full systems cost more but you normally get better performance and less weight on the bike.

I'm guessing Superkawgirl rides something other than a 500R.
Gratulations on the new bike! Many safe and happy miles to you both.
The best mirrors available for our bike are the Kawasaki mirrors that come stock on the '01-'03 ZX6R & ZX9R. Here's what they look like on our bike:
They are almost an inch and a half wider than the original mirrors, they vibrate less and they look hella cooler than the boxey stockers (IMO):
Putting louder mufflers on this bike won't make it any faster, but you can always sell your stock pipes on Ebay to defray some of the costs. The real costs, however will appear in the form of speeding tickets, for which I thank you for incurring.
Peace and good luck!

Damn you guys are fast.
As far as the pipes, I'm not really lookin for any performance boost. I just want some noise. So slip ons sounds like the way to go, that is if they sound alright. Where can I get em and for how much?
calamari, yea those mirrors look sweet!(and so does that green, i got stuck with purple). An inch and a half might just be enough for me to actually use the mirrors. haha again, how much n' where do I get em?
Thankz for the warm welcomes! I appreciate it!!!!!!

You can get the mirrors from any Kawasaki dealership. OR better yet on Ebay; just be sure to get the OEM mirrors and NOT the 'OEM-style'. This is a noticeable difference.
And an inch and a half is MORE than enough.
Ride safely!

RE: New rider, got some questions...
I once had a 500R, and I went with D&D Exhaust and I was very pleased, I also put Zx-9R Mirrors that I bought at Bikebandit.com . I was very happy with view just had to slightly move my elbow out but could use them just fine and they looked much better then the stock 5.
Anyhow enjoy your 5, I did mine still miss that bike but I decided to try too much bike for me.
