My First Long-Distance Ride on my Ninja 500R
I'm a 25-year-old Ethiopian guy. I own the EX500 (MODEL year 2003.) This weekend I took off from Van Nuys (greater Los Angeles Area) to San Diego--about 140 miles away. My average speed was about 80m/hr. I must say that it was blastingly enjoyable. I admit that I exited the freeway once to rest at a donut house after about 90 miles. I didn't have to refill (my gastank was like half-full....)
My next challenge is to hit the road from Los Angeles to Sacramento which about 370 miles (to visit my cousin.) Any tips or preparation I need to heed?
BTW, per how many miles should I rest my bike? or after how many minutes? I don't want to abuse my 500R baby (I am a proud member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Motorcycles (PETM)) Just kidding!

don't worry about your machine... you'll need to rest far more than it. just run your various checks (tires, oil, temp) whenever you stop or while riding and as long as things seem to be fine keep twisting that throttle.
welcome to the world of rides to places further than the local quickie mart.

Good stuff on the trip. Do you have a sign up form for PETM I'm very interested in joining.
Well, I don't have the "sign up form" for a PETM. But your interest is appreciated. BTW, they recently revoked my membership (because I got busted doing wheelie on my 5OOR.)
