motor swap?

motor swap?
a Friend has his old 2006 gsxr600 motor/trans sitting around and a thought popped into his head..... woudl themotor/trans(with complete wiring harness/comp.) swap into my 500? Welding and cutting we can do. but would it really fit in the 500's frame? any input might make this thought a reality or just one of those "that wouldve been sweet" thoughts.

RE: motor swap?
I've never in my life seen a sleeper job that was worth a fart in a noisemaker, but that doesn't mean yours can't be the first.
Our spindly little steel frame does a fine job for the existing powerplant, but that's because it's designed specifically for it. I've seen three full-on sleeper jobs and none of them was an improvement on the existing hardware.
IMO, a better "wouldn't it be sweet if" project for a lightweight, high-hp engine like that would be an ultra-light.
Peace!

RE: motor swap?
Not sure on the specs but I know that with the right amount of drive and knowhowanything can be accomplished. And if you've never seen a sleeper that was "worth" while then you either need to get out more or those sleeper look like sleepers and are doing there job just fine you just need to open your eyes and not judge something by how many hood scoops something has. but anywhy 04500MK if you got the time/know how get after it. If you can cut/weld a frame can always be reinforced just make sure you're helping not hurting structural stability.

I appreciate your trying to widen my perspective in a nurturing, helpful way, but you'll never convince that fewer scoops are better. [sm=tongue.gif]
