Modified Stock Exhaust
Hey guys, new to the forums here but i hope you all can help me. I modified my stock exhaust on my 99' 500R, by pulling out the backends and prying the core and packing out of the exhaust. But now it sounds like crap. Is there anything that i can do to make it sound better? Right now it sounds more like a 3 wheel ATC or something.
Blast you Youtube for posting videos of modified stock exhausts that sound nothing like how they really sound!

RE: Modified Stock Exhaust
put it back in?
lol i dunno. i never really trust youtube as to how something sounds. it gives you a good idea i guess, but different mics, different environments... too many variables to compare one to another IMO.

oh you poor guy... doesnt it sound like a sad harley?... joking, but it is loud no doubt, my best guess on helping you would be to either find a cheap pair on ebay, craigslist, or your dealership... i wouldnt suggest purchasing a single performance pipe unless you have easy access to one for cheap... and you know how to re-jet your bike...

RE: Modified Stock Exhaust
If nothing turns up on Ebay for a few weeks, Google "EX500 forum" and "Ninja 500R" forum, then go to each forum you find and ask if anyone has a stock pair of mufflers laying around in their garage.
Fortunately there are still a lot of dummies (err... 'other riders') who put aftermarket exhausts on their bike who have a spare set of stock mufflers collecting dust.
I wouldn't tell them your sob-story, just ask if anyone has a spare set they'd like to sell and how much.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Peace!
