since i need a new tank, if i were to get a full on body from a late 500 (tank included of course), would the body bolt on to the early frame? has anyone done it? are there any complications? any help appreciated!

argh. i just found out the front fairing isn't compatible, BUT i havnen't found out whether or not the rear panels attatch at the same point, does anyone know? if so, i want to get them to match the tank i'm getting, so that i'll need to paint the least amount ofbody work to match.

Sorry. Post '93 side panels are different and wouldn't fit on a pre-94, tail piece is different as well.

i know the shape is different, but with the amount of other parts that are identical, i am wondering if the mounting points aren't the same. if i use the side panels and tail piece together, shouldn't they fit? if not, i will fab some sort of mounting bracket so that they will. i'm determined NOT to have to paint too many pieces.

 

Mounting points are not all the same.
The side panel lower bolt hole is but the side panels on the old bikes and the tail piece fit into each other at the back side mounting point.
On the new bikes the side panel now also includes what was the side of the tail piece.
All completely different bodywork with different mounting points.
