Default kick stand issues

hey, does anyone else have problems with the kickstand sinking into asphalt when it gets really hot outside? this has been happening a lot lately and it makes the bike lean more, to the point that it looks like it is going to fall over. has anyone had this problem and come up with a solution to it?

thanks

mr

are you serial? all bikes do this.. all that weight is put into a small surface area (the kickstand). Think of it as if you were walking in snow. Your feet sinks but when you wear snow shoes, all is well.

So you need to buy snow shoes for your kick stand.

As far as price, they vary.. and some require some work. For example, most beverage companies make them (the ones that sell them in cans).

Haha, reminds me of my cousin's July wedding in Phoenix. (What kind of prodigy has a wedding in Phoenix in JULY when we have to stand around dressed up in black tuxes in murderous heat in a cruddy church with A/C from the 1960's?)
Anyway, my Mom asked me to go outside with her so she could smoke. We're standing there for a minute or two before we got called back in and I caught her just before she fell. Her high-heels had sunken into the gooey asphalt!
Not missing a beat, she thanked me and said, "On second thought maybe I will go on that diet."

im not an idiot, i realize that this happens with all bikes. ive just noticed that the 500 sinks significantly faster than other bikes. yesturday i was riding with a buddy and his cbr 600 had barely began to sink when mine was already about an inch in. i was just looking for ways that other people have remedied this.

I just carry a small piece of wood in my tank bag. Dirt parking lots, hot asphalt, mud, no problem.....

There are a couple of things you can do. If you have a spot welder you can weld a larger piece of metal to the bottom of your kickstand (it takes some skill to keep it from looking like crap) for more surface area. You can also buy a kickplate (usually a flat nylon disk) to carry and put under the KS. What I did, since I work at an electrical supply warehouse, is take a foursquare box metal cover plate (a 4" by 4" flat metal plate which I got free, but costs about $.25 to $.50) and carry it in the inside pocket of my riding jacket. It's usefull for gravel or dirt parking lots as well.

I carry a lid off of my copenhagen can. But as mentioned in previous threads, a flattened soda can works well.
