Sounds like a winner!!! The only thing I would do in addition to this (cause my mommy instincts have kicked in) is let the teacher know to remind your son to keep up with the helmet and gloves. Don't let the other kids around the helmet cause they may drop it, and don't leave any of it at school. Other than that, all else sounds pretty workable! Good Luck and happy hauling!

The Motopak GT 35 has a magnet pad that unzips to reveal back pack straps.

No problem fizz. My family thinks I go overboard sometimes but hey, you paid for the stuff with your hard earned money you surely don't want some thieving kid taking your stuff or breaking it and not paying for it. Not all of them are "trained" as well as they should be. Post up with something when you get it all set up so we can see. Happy Trails and Trailing!!

Yep, that's the direction I went. I got an Icon Urban Tank Bag($109), which magnetizes to the tank, has ample storage for me without being too big, has retractable backback straps, and even has a tank protector that doubles as a helmet carrier.

I'll get some pics up soon.

Wearing the bag as a backpack with the helmet in the helmet holder. The magnets easily tuck into pockets, The helmet holder unfolds easily with velcro, in goes the helmet, and then you just wrap the straps around the helmet and click them into the backpack. Someone REALLY put a lot of thought into this bag because it is very simple and quick to use, convert, etc. I was impressed with everything it can do.
