EFI on a 1988 ex500
Just out of curiosity, has anyone done a efi conversion on the ex500's? I know that there is not a system premade for it, however if you have heard of a diy system called the megasquirt, they say that you can make a efi system for anything up to a 12 cylinder, not to mention the fact that you can get it with a deal for the ignition too, where the system controls ignition timing and duration or you can also make it have multiple sparks.
The cost is really nice compared to the cost of a premade system not to mention that you can control fuel curves per rpm and if you ever decide to do something else with the engine, for example turbo or increased compression or displacement, you dont have to buy a new system. All you have to do is retune the system to your liking.
The cost usually for a premade efi system is around 500 for small engines and 1000 for bigger ones, not to mention that they dont control ignition. The cost for a megasquirt isusually less than200, setup and installed

if someone has, i dont think they are on the internet lol. ive never seen one.
probably more trouble than its worth though. seems to me like its just complicating things lol. carbs are easy peasy. imo if you want a fuel injected bike, sell the 500 and get one.

fuel injection is like every other electronic advancement ...as long as it works right is great...the instant it starts malfunctioning slightly ....it could b all downhill w/ nightmares and headaches....on the plus side its alot of empty beer cans tryin to diagnose it :P

Another episode in The Human Condition.
According to episode I, this guy had it just a little too perfect, even a naked chick, in his garden.
Of course he got bored and had to screw it up and now we've all been stuck toiling and struggling in pain ever since.
At least we got a good story out of the deal. So if you decide to sample the ill-advised fruit, be sure to keep us all abreast of this epic tale. (Or two.)
Good luck!
