Okay - this is weird.......I took the bike out last night and when I got home, just out of curiosity - I checked it again - its not making that noise anymore...............any ideas????

that would be awesome!!! I'm still gonna replace my brakes though, they are starting to look like they need it.

Oh and thanks for the advice on the front brake - I actually used it, without the rear brake. Not so scary when you think of it the way you described!

And btw, I rechecked my chain - it was out about a 1/4 of an inch. So I adjusted it. Thanks for the advice - I owe you - big time
