Default CA legal

how can u tell if ur bike is a CA spec (or legal for CA). i have a 95. im not sure the requirments for that year. can anyone help me out. my bike came from illinois. is there a way to tell from the pink slip like from VIN or something? thanks guys!

Not real sure...I know the US model is EX500D2 ...and the CA model is EX500D2L ....... should be a clue in the VIN # I would think... can you post your VIN, and I can check it for ya....Might be able to log it into Kawasaki's site, or at carfax or something like that... not a lotta help..Need one of these CA guys on here...

My bike that I believe to be a California model has Emissions control stuff on it. You will see tubes just to the right in front of the tank and there will be a carbon canister and other tubes going to the carbs. You also have to be carefull about filling the tank as in the hot weather the fuel will expand and flow into the emissions tubing that goes into the neck of the tank and then it will run like junk. Blame the CA. politicians.
