Default Adjusting Chain Tension

Hello everyone,
First things first. Excellent forum! I just bought my first Ninja 500 and this forum has helped answer some of my initial questions. btw, I scored an '07 with 6800 mi. for $3,000. It was dropped once (low speed) and has only slight damage to the fairing and pipe.

My questionis this: How do I adjust the chain tension? It looks like I've got well over the spec 1.4 - 1.6 " when measured about half way between sprockets. Is this the place to measure?

Thanks!
