RE: 2009 Ninja 500R re-design
I think another model 500 is the way to go. Like the Mustang LX or GT. Same 5.0 engine but different body panels.
Make a 500GT for those wanting a sportier look.

I disagree, Paulie.
Wouldn't make a lick of sense to have two different 500's when they already make the 650R and own the 250 market. (AND the only competition is Suzuki's panty-waisted/aircooled GS500.)
Small engines just don't sell in this country (even if they'll whip a big-n-bad 1370cc Harley like a rented mule.)

RE: 2009 Ninja 500R re-design
I figured it would quell the need to change the 500R specifically.
The gas prices in the USA may have some effect on small cc engines I think. It was the driving force behind my purchase (initially that is).
And yes, it will whoop many cars too! A Mustang GT saw my taillights the other day when he was revving up next to me at a stop light. He probably had me in the long run, but off the line... Nope!
I don't make it a habit of doing that but now and then a bozo needs to be reminded not to mess with a motorcycle at a stop light.

the new ninja 500r
after talking to several dealers and mechanics, i have heard that the new
500r will have fuel injection as well as new body design like the 250. as far as all of them have told me, just about everything about the 500r has been re-mapped

just strip the paint of your wheels and they'll be chrome looking. like hayes077 and i and a few others have done. it's way cheaper and looks just as good imo. i think there is a write up in the DIY section.

Which trend?
~Suzuki's air-cooled GS500 is becoming less panty-waisted?
~Small engines are becoming more acceptable in this country?
~Or 1360cc-Harleys are now able to keep up with a 500cc Kawasaki?
Haha--we'll see the return of the 55mph national speed limit before small engines become cool in this country.

P.S. You hurt my feelings, Dragknee (sniff):
Hahaha--my 883 Sportster could almost keep up with this 500 if I revved the pi$$ out of it.
