Default Turning an EX250 into a track bike?

What are some essential upgrades when considering to turn an ex250 into a track bike?
Looking to get an extensive list and details on this because I've tried searching but nothing has come up as far as setups and parts tto upgrade.

I've heard of upgrading the forks and rear shock...
would a rear ex500 shock be enough?
I've also heard about putting ex500 springs into the front fork but what else can be upgraded while I have the front forks apart?

That's about all I know...?

Should there be anything that needs to be done to the engine?

Thanks guys.

1+ on everything you said about suspension. I haven't done any of it to my bike, but I could only imagine how much better the 250 would handle. Tires IMO would be the absolute best upgrade to start with.

Don’t let any foos give you crap about the 250 either, it’s a light bike that gets around the corners fast. It will give any 600 a run for its money on a tight technical track.

Yup as mentioned, (FN not included), get the suspension set up for you with gear. As far as performance mods for the 250 besides the normal stuff, I do not know. Being comfy with the ride will make you faster than just engine mods alone.

I have some new Bridgestone Battlax BT45s on the bike right now. How would they fare on the track? I'm sure compared to the stock Dunlops, they'll be better but where do they sit compared to some of the better tires for the ex250?

haha, I hear ya... I would love to buy a new zx6 and take it to the track but the thought of ever dropping a new bike... ehh I'll pass!

If I get an exhaust system, I'd have to the bike rejetted right? What's the process in that?

No biggey, if you know how a carb works, then you will be golden. You may have to tweak the slide/needles along with the main jet. but that happens everyday if you take the outdoor ambient air temps and track temps along with the humidity. Write the numbers down for each track in you manual. Saves some time.
