Default ...sometimes i hate safety features

So I got back a show tonight in Seattle, go to start my back for the 10 mile ride back home and let it warm up for 5 minutes while i'm chatting with my buddy. I put it in gear and start going. BAM. dies. retry. retry. retry.

I'm thinking "Oh god...this bike doesn't even have 2000 miles and it's screwed!"

park it real fast, get off my gloves and helmet and hear the thing drop. ugh. broke about an inch off the clutch handle.

get a flashlight and inspect possible damage (thankfully none except for the handle) and start the bike again, *flip the kickstand up* and it goes.

stupid kickstand safety feature. i know it has it's use....but god.

So, does anybody know where I can get a new clutch handle and how hard it'd be to install?

Haha... easy to forget about the kickstand switch!

You could get it from bikebandit.com, or your local shop should carry it for not a whole lot of $$$.

That sucks about the clutch lever. It shouldn't be to hard to replace on the bike. Try looking on ebay you should be able to pick one up cheap.

I still do it occasionally, usually with witnesses [8D]It sucks your bike took a dump in the process. I usually sit there for a moment trying to figure what the f is wrong now, then when I go to put the side stand down its already down.

My husband did it to himself when I got him his Kat. I had to go out and see why he was having "tranny" problems. I told him it was a "loose nut" on the bike and kicked his stand up for him. doh

Question for ya, when the safety kicksant switch is broken like that, did it just make a "thunk" noise when you hit the start button? Mine does that now. Hasn't started in a few days. it just quit on me on thursday.
