I just emailed every dealer in a 200 mile radius. So far, they have no 250R at all.
I was thinking, maybe I should wait for the 09s to come out? Or maybe bump up and get the 650?

Anyone know how much taller the 650 is vs the 250?

 

It depends on whether or not this is your first bike. If you are experienced, get the bigger one if you can afford it. As far as the difference in height and weight, go to a dealer and try one.

 

thats the problem, there are no 250s in my area to try out, so i cant compare unless I ask people here who own the 250s.

Paper heights often don't really reflect what the bike will feel like.We have an '08 250, and we had two of the 650 Ninjas. Several things make a difference (Seat shape, slimness of the bike, peg location, etc.). My wife, at 5'5"ish, thought the reach was better on the 250, but nothing huge. It is, however, way lighter.

Also, I've had all kinds of bikes. I love the 250. I'd actually vote vice-versa to what someone else advised: If this is your first bike, get the 650. It's plenty easy to learn on, and you're going to want more bike (Whether you need it, or not.) just for the experience. If you had more bikes, you may want the 250, as it's cheaper, easier, and racier (Though not as powerful, obviously.). Perception and preference...
