RE: RPM question
Or a better option is to not listen to what the 'friend' says. I don't know where people get such stupid ideas. I'm not calling you stupid by any means because you just didn't know. But your friend sounds like an idiot.

If you are breaking in your new engine, just keep your rpms varied.
If it is already broken in, it makes no difference what rpms you run it at, but higher rpms will just put more wear and tear on your engine. I keep my bike around 5-7k rpms most of the time.

RE: RPM question
10k RPM all the time!? Yes, he is an idiot.
You run int he top half of your RPM range for performance (ie - carving up the twisties). You run in the bottom half for normal driving and better gas mileage.
Think of it this way; if you are doing something that would benefit from more torque, run higher RPM's. If not, then don't. And of course, don't run RPM so low that the engine bogs down (3k or less?).

RE: RPM question
mines not blowing black smoke now he was telling me to inform me but i thought he would be wrong about that, cause on the way home i ran it high and it sounded like i was killing my engine.
