Default Question about replacing tire

This goes for the front and the rear. I got the ones I need which are better than stock. For the rear I'm going with the Metzeler me880. It will fit in the rim I know that but how exactly does it get air in there.

Is it via the rim with the valve as shown in a dealer picture or do I need to be a seperate tube for the metzeler. If so than I'm screwed cuz I haven't bought the tube.

The stock is 120/80-16 the one I bought is 130/90-16 a bit bigger. Fitting is not the problem my question pertains to getting air for the tire.

The front is the same size so shouldn't be a problem. Anyway please help I'm confused thanks.

Also I know the valve goes into the rim not the tire itself. Does the tire require a tube however?

should be a valve stem that will introduce air to the cavity in the rim and backside of the tire.. most bikes but not all tubeless.. depends on the bike and rim style as well..

most cruisers with spoked rims will have tubes.. some others do as well..

what kind of bike and rim combo?

welcome to KF!!!

It's a 250R 2004. Replacing both tires. For the front I went with Kenda K671 cruiser. I plan on riding at 55-65 mph, only 70mph if I have to. Need the tires to last me as long as possible as I'm strapped for cash and looking for work. Times are tough!

The Metzeler 880 me is going on the back and the rims are stock. It should fit though as this guide didn't tell me I needed a new rim.

This is the best rear tire in the world for this bike in terms of touring. I usually carry a backpack and am heavy myself (but working on that of course) so these tires are perfect for me. Both are touring tires and even the K671 is better than the stock Dunlops cost me about 60$ with shipping and the Metzeler like 136$ with shipping. (However this baby goes minimum 20,000 miles if you take care of it and not abuse it and some people have taken it up to 30,000, way better than the 6-7,000 mile range for stock rear, peace of ****)

Well I replaced the tires but the ME tire was not 130 90-16 it was a MT90 B 16 and it didn't fit! Going to have to send it back. Motorcycle super store have people there that don't know what they're doing. I specifically asked if it's 130 90-16 same size and they were like yea yea 90-16 and I said ok send it. I needed 130 90-16 ME because it won't fit now.

It's like at least a 140 or a 150! Tomorrow I am calling and asking to speak with the boss man what a waste of time. Had to get a different tire and luckily they had one or I would of been stranded. What a hastle! Never buying from motorcycle pro shop again.

Edit: BTW I just found out the MT90 B 16 is a FRONT tire when I needed a back one. Man what ignorant people working there.
