Default Purchasing Kawasaki Ninja 250cc Need Expert!

Hi , i'm about to buy a bike with 6000 miles on it. It has a few scratches , needs new tires and will need a new chain soon. I'm new to this!! Could anybody tell me what price I should settle at (asking 1500/ obo) !
Also if I do buy it what kind of tires are good for around town driving. Thanks

Try and talk him down to about $1,300 I don't think you would be able to do much better than that. Let him know that the 6,000 mile mark is right around the service interval, and unless he wants to pay to get it done, you won't offer anymore.

The dunlops that came factory on my 250R have been pretty good tires. there isn't much selection anyway for that size.

Definately mention the 6000mile service this includes a valve adjustment, find out how much it is to have done, it should be at least $300 if not more. If the seller says they had it done get receipts if they said they did it themselves ask them totell you the specs they set the valvesat and to explain the procedure and torque values of the locknuts. I have seen severalowners bust a rocker arm because they jacked the clearance specs or didnt torque right and lost a locknut or snapped a stem.

The most cost effective tires for the 250 are Pirelli MT75s.
They are sticky, handle the twisties, ride well for around town and long distance they are also the correct size for the rims on the 250. They can be had for just over $100 a set.

I dont recommend the stock Dunflops as a replacement, there are much better handling and riding tires out there. Most owners dont notice a difference until they switch to another tire. I always recommend running the stickiest tire you can, even if you dont spend time in the twisties you never know when youll have to tighten a turn and rely on your tires not to slide out, not to mention better stopping without sliding. Also the stock tires follow rain grooves and imperfections in the road which can be uncomfortable for a new rider.

You can use a 130/90/16 on the rear and a 110/90/16 on the front, however...

***please remember that if you install a 110/90-16 front tire you will HAVE to raise the fender or it will rub while riding.***

There are around 10 different good tires for the 250 a few are
Pirelli Sport Demons
Metzler Lazertec
Dunlop GT501
Bridgestone BT45

These are the ones Ive researched for myself I actually run a MT75 front and Lazertec rear. I chose the Lazertec because it rains hard at the drop of a hat here the MT75 was free.
