cool,
Yeah my buddy likes the 250R, its in his price range and what he is looking for, beginner styled bike...

Even though he can top it out @ whatever it can top out @ 100mph ish? think the 250R will be sluggish with weight on it?
Basically he doesnt want to be on a scooter compared to me, lol.

Well in May I am coming up on year 1 for my 250r. It's my first bike I bought used with 4k miles on it. It would be nice to have something a little bigger but the 250 is still plenty fast and i get over 65mpg every tank. Actually around 72mpg is my average. It's a great learner bike and fun to throw around. The only way I am getting another bike is if Ican buy one paying in cash.

The problem I see i hear everyone drops their first bike, I would be pissed dropping a bike that cost me 8500 (650R). or are people exaggerating when they say that most people drop their first bikes?
I've never dropped mine. But if youlook at used SPORT bikes theres alot of ads that say "Only dropped once, light fairing damage". But on the upside, plastics can be repaired or even bought for cheap. Wost case scenerio, turn it into a street fighter.
thats why i got a used bike for my first bike - old 95 zx6r for 2000K and i love it.

Get a good deal on an 01 zx6r and you will hjave the same bike as the new zzr's, so there are planty of parts available if you do lay it down.

Thanks for the opinions guys, I bought a 07 ninja 650R today though, great deal $6500 still in the crate, considering the 250 was gonna run me $5000. i went for a 650r. My friend is going to get the same too.

i really like the style of the 650r.

seem like good bikes to me - more low end and less screaming top end those those more interested in moving around town than flying around a track.
