The problem I see i hear everyone drops their first bike, I would be pissed dropping a bike that cost me 8500 (650R). or are people exaggerating when they say that most people drop their first bikes?
I've never dropped mine. But if youlook at used SPORT bikes theres alot of ads that say "Only dropped once, light fairing damage". But on the upside, plastics can be repaired or even bought for cheap. Wost case scenerio, turn it into a street fighter.

I don't know, I guess I just don't have the money for anything too big, and the 250r i'm sure will last me more than a year, i'm not worried about myself though, I have a friend that still wants to get the 250, but he wants to know if it will handle fine with him being his size.

Yeah, it'll handle as fine as he rides it really. I've seen 300+ men that need to be on Harley Ultra Classics sitting on R6s, CBRs, ZX6s ect and they can knee drag with the best of them.

i don't mean handling i guess i meant ifwill he be able to keep up with traffic. not very fast, neither of us plan on going that fast, we are learning, we're not taking it up as a sport, but more casual, occasional road trip etc...

Even with him being 250, he'll still be able to top the bike out I would think at 100 or so.

ever think to buy used for the first bike? is isn't uncommon for people to drop their first bike but that's really no deal since replacing plastics is easy as was stated earlier. i'm a big guy too like your friend but i'm sorry i can't help with the 250 question, i've never ridden anything that small before.

oh and about the 1200 suz, don't worry bout that being too much power or anything, remember cruisers don't run like street bikes and dirt bikes. basically on something like that on bigger bikes, maturity is a BIG issue.

He's right. My first bike was my HD Nightster and it's a 1200cc. But a 600cc sport bike will outrun it.
