Oil filter on 2007 ninja 250
Hey guys I just bought a new 2007 ninja 250 and I got about 60 miles on it. So I heard its a good idea just to do a oilchange in 1st 100 miles. Can you guys tell me which oil filter I need for it. I'm going to buy it at murry's.

Not sure what brand of filters Murry's keeps on hand, but I always use the WIX#24941. Personally, I would not recommend Fram filters to even my worst enemy. Stay far away from them if you can.

And yeah, changing the oil within 100 miles is a great idea since most of the new engine wear occurs at this time. It's not uncommon to see fine metallic flakes in the oil during the first change due to the break in process. You don't want that stuff circulating around and "lubricating" the engine. Metal flakes as you could imagine don't lubricate all that well.

Get one of these kits:
http://www.murphskits.com/adap/bergadap.htm
Then you can use a multitude of spin-on filters from just about anywhere. Also makes for a 5 minute oil change without even getting dirty.
His site has "qualified" this spin-on filter kit up through the 2005 model year, but I don't think there is a difference up to 2007.Bergman is an e-mail away to confirm if it would fit your bike or not. I think they are running around $115. Sounds like a lot, but sure takes all the hassle out of oil changes. The 250 oil filter set-up sucks.

Here are a couple of good ones that fit the 250. K&N usually at Motorcycle/Powersport shops. Purolator usually available at Pep Boys or other auto parts stores.
K&N: KN-401
Purolator: ML16812
