RE: Ninja 250R total weight before crapping out!?
If you arent comfortable with the power I would stay with the v-twins (500R-650R) both great bikes. The 636 was the old 6R, if you are dead set on a new bike you would save some money with the ZZR600, not as outrageous as the 6R and better insureance. The only other consideration is that most people will drop their first bike, you should plan for it, and even expect it. With this in mind the more expensive plastics on the 600's will set you back a lot if they get damaged. For a first bike I would stick with the 500R or the 650R, cheaper plastics and more predictable throttle response. you can always step up later. I dont know about the 650, but after the initial new bike depreciation, the 500R holds its value for years. Your best bet would be to pick up a used 500 get some experiance, and sell it back for what you paid before the update, then get the 600.

Maybe look into the Vulcan 500 Cruiser. That may be a better choice for 2-up riding if you plan on doing a lot of it. Will be more comfy also. But for the combined weight I would go with the ZZR600 or Ninja 650R. The 250r with me 135 and wife 145 feels pretty sluggish to me.

Thanx everyone for the great responses.......I see a lot of people are suggesting a used bike......I really don't want to deal with someone elses problems....even if the bike looks mint, the guy could of aboused it knowing he'd sell it and I don't know any bike mechs to check it out for me.......I really want my first bike experience to be a good one and a 2008 ZZR600 will do it for me.Does this forum have a regional section?? I'd like to ask some insurnace and importing quesitons for the Toronto area
