Ninja 250 clutch question

RE: Ninja 250 clutch question
So I went and looked at the bike and it's a 2000 with 6600 miles and it's in pretty good shape.I didn't hear it run cause he had taken the right cover off of it to see what was wrong and hadn't put all the parts back in (he left the hub thingy out).He offered to start it but I'm not sure what would have happened with all the clutch discs in there with nothing to keep them in place.Anyway, one of the posts on the clutch basket has broken off.I'm not sure what could have caused that.He has a complete extra engine that supposedly has 8000 miles on it that he will throw in for an extra $100.00.I just haven't decided if I want a project or not.I might just spend some more money and get a runner/rider.

RE: Ninja 250 clutch question
Im under the impression the clutch/trany is pretty straighforward and not real time consuming. The extra engine is worth usually around $500 depending on the time of year.
Get the manuals so you dont get hung up on some oddball assembley instructions and also have the spec and torque values.
Hes alittle delusional but not unreasonableat what he wants for both bike and engine(unless your in cal then its a smashing deal)
Im betting if you pressed him for info he was trying to jam the shifter past the positive neutral because he thought it wouldnt go into second. He could have ran it out of oil but the bearings usually toast before the tranny would have any issues.
I want a greeen bike

RE: Ninja 250 clutch question
I've opted to stay away from this deal.As you said, too many unknowns. So it's back to looking. There's a guy with a 2000 Ninja 500 for sale with 10000 miles on it.He wants $2500.00.If I can get him down to $1800.00-$2000.00 I might do that.Other wise I think I'll wait til next summer and buy a brand new Ninja 500.
