newbie/ metro traffic /mirrors
hi guys got license for first time ever new rider, and been riding in hood for awhile after the MSF. Today was my first traffic day and it made me wonder if my speedometer isnt slow. Are the speedos on 250's accurate? i went with the usual 10-15 over the limit (that's how traffic will go on sun AM early) but it still didnt seem to cut it. Was i just in the "late to church crowd?"
any urban commuter tips for new 250 rider? i would appreciate it.
thanks

Welcome to KF first of all, You are absolutely right about the 250R speedo. It is almost exactly 10% under what it says you're doing. So when you hit 30, you are actually 3mph slower than listed. At 50, you are really doing 45mph. It really sucks, and I hate having to correct the speed in my head when I'm riding, but that's just the way it is. I guess that's Kawasaki's way of trying to keep their riders out of trouble.[:'(]

RE: newbie/ metro traffic /mirrors
wecome to KF. Yeah our speedos are off by about 10% like mark said. I just go 5 over whatever speed I want to go and that has proven to compensate alright. My suggestion for urban driving? expect them to plow over you, and if it gets really bad drive slower than the rest of traffic by about 5-10 mph. I learned that during break-in if you are a nuisance to people, you get noticed and if you are noticed the chances of getting in a cager collision is greatly reduced.
