I get about 65mpg with my klx250s. Worst I've ever had was with a V-Max, about 32mpg. Best, for a big bike, was a Buell White Lightning, which is 102hp and 1200cc with a hopped-up Sportster motor (aka harley). It got consistently 60-70mpg unless I was seriously being rowdy. Unreal mileage for that big a motor, but-they only have one carb and are actually quite efficient as far as breathing. The Buell xb9r is sportier and more reliable, fuel injected, and gets around 70 or 75 in stock form. They don't hold their value worth a darn, and you can find great used ones with low miles for around 5k or even less. But, you gotta be willing to maintain it properly. Not as bad as the old buells as they've evolved the aircooled motor as far as possible and finally made it pretty reliable. But, after all that horsepower, I'm looking at an 08 250r as a commuter, in addition to the klx!
