MPG question
One ofmy main reasons for purchasing a 250r was the mileage. The only issue I have with the 250r is the discomfort of highway driving on a lighter bike. I recently gave my sister a ride on the 250r and she loved it, offering to buy this one when/if I should upgrade to a bigger bike.
My question is, besides the 500r from Kawasaki, what would be a good commuter bike that's a little heavier than the 250r but still has high mpg? I have considered buying a new 08 model 250r but am also considering a bigger cc bike.
I decided to ask the question here because we ride some of the best mpg bikes available, and so I'm sure some of you have looked at other options before buying the 250r, hopefully with mpg in mind.
So, if any of you have researched the best mpg bikes out there (Kawasaki prefered but not limited to) around the 600cc range, mind offering some of your findings?
Thanks guys.

RE: MPG question
It seems any bike from 600cc's and up gets almost the same MPG. The ZX-14 can get around 36-44 MPG which is about the same as most middle weight bikes get. In my view, once you go larger than the 250, just buy what works well with you.

RE: MPG question
Look at the ninja 650R. It has an upright riding and is a bit bigger and heavier than the 250. MPG when riding it easy is about as good as the 250. Atleast thats what some are saying on the 650R forum with a few saying they get 70MPG.

RE: MPG question
I really can't see a 650 getting 70mpg. I have an Eliminator 125 that gets that. You should be able to get 50mpg with no problem as long as you aren't wide open on the throttle all the time.

RE: MPG question
Thanks for the advice guys. I wasn't sure if a particular bike out there was known for it's gas mileage over the competition. It would be a while until a new bike would be a possibility, and my love for my 250r has not dwindled yet.

70mpg.... for a 650.....hmmm. I find that one a tough one to be true.

Then again some say they get 70MPG on the 250 and I have never got more than 58.
