RE: LONGEST/FURTHEST expressway/highway drive?
I left on a trip friday morning that was about 400 miles long. The 250 did just fine. The engine temp was well under normal city riding temps the whole trip. So, overheating is DEFINITELY not an issue. I had to ride directly into a head wind between 55-65 mph almost the entire way, so my fuel mileage was kind of crappy at 67 MPG averg. (Was getting 77 MPG!)
The dealer is right that this bike is generally intended for city use, but it has no problem going on the highway either.[8D]

Posted this in a different thread on the same subject. That suzuki dealer was just trying to get you to buy from him by lieing to you, it's normal in commision work. The 08 is perfectly fine for highway driving. To be honest, since it's water cooled I'd trust it more for highway then some of the suzuki's since they are just air/oil cooled.

Here's a couple of links for you to show just how capable the ninja 250 is for long distance rides. Both of these are from riders using the older 250 on 2 different IBA (Iron Butt Association) challenges. The first one is of a rider that did 1000 miles in a day on a 250, and the second is of another rider that did over 2100 miles in under 50hrs to get one of the highest awards of the IBA, the 50cc (coast to coast in under 50hrs). Both bikes are only lightly modified with cosmetic upgrades of things like windshield and flush turn signals, but the drive trains were still stock.

I rode from Augusta, GA to Birmingham, AL (about 270 miles) and back on an Eliminator 125 with no problem other than my back hurting... I don't think your Ninja 250 is going to have a problem!
