Default Long Distance Driving Question

I plan on picking up a 250R from a friend that has about 4K miles on it, so I know its already broken in. My question is, Would this bike be able to handle a 312mi trek from my home to my college every now and again, or should I look into getting something with a little more umpf?

Thanks for the welcome. The only problem that I fore-see with the 250R is that it might overheat on that long journey. I've done it before on my friends 650R, but I like the control of the 250R better.

It'll be fine. I've done Iron Butt rides and weekend camping trips on mine. The stock seat is only good for about 100 miles, but once you get that worked out it's a nice bike for long days.

I've done 600 mile days on my 650 with a slab of hard polystyrene taped to the seat to raise it. Get the riding position right and there are very few seats that you can't use for long rides.

350 miles or so on a 250 isn't a problem. Might be a bit boring if it's all highway and you're keeping your speed down to around 75, but that's a good excuse for finding a more interesting route.

No reason why it should overheat as long as you're not thrashing it.

Alright. Thanks for answering my question. Now I'll just have to hope there isn't any ice on the roads so i can take it down in a month.

Get some pics of the trip. So if you take a break every 50-100miles. Set up the suspension and plan ahead.
