Just put on an EX 500 shock

Just put on an EX 500 shock
It bolted up like a charm and was very easy, only question is does tightening down on the adjustment net, thus compressing the spring, increase or decrease the sag measurement? Also the FAQ on ninja250.com said to measure with the bike on the centerstand without rider, then to take it off the centerstand and sit on it for the next measure. Sound right? Just making sure I wasn't missing something. Thanks

So far it works great and I'm very happy with it. $70 on ebay with $20 shipping and it was off an '04. I've seen it cheaper but the bikes were usually 8-10 years old. Decided to go this route since it bolts right up, instead of a SV650 which might be a better overall shock but needs modification to get on.
The FAQ at http://ninja250.com tells exactly how to do it and it took maybe 20 min. total. Good luck!

My only quibble would be thewear on the shock (i.e. mileage; not necessarily date of manufacture.) If it's been ridden alot, you may want to get it revalved or at least checked before installing. An '04 should be pretty safe, though.
