Just so you know the 250's and 500's have the exact same frame. The only difference is engine and plastics. They measure exactly the same....I can take my engine out of my 250 and put a 500 in it. I actually almost did that...I had a friend who needed money really bad and was gonna sell me the engine out of his 500 for $300.00....I still kick myself in the butt for not buying the engine...I could have resold it! LOL

no joke? you can just switch out the 250 engine and put in a 500 and everything fits? that is nice to know. so i could get a 250 and when i am ready, just get the 500? is the power that much greater than that of a 250?

Mine's a streetfighter, abosolutely no protection really from the wind, at first I felt really weirded out and now I'm used to all that wind. It just hurts my back after a while, fighting the wind, but I enjoy it, and I hit wind resistance like crazy, no acceleration after 60 or so, takes forever. But a full fairing bike is a lot different. The wind likes to toss you around but you learn to react to it.

May be a bit late to post this, but trev, I ride everyday on I-70, I-270, and the WashDC Beltway. As Dgrif said, you get comfortable after a while. I use to run a Buell Firebolt, which is a 900, and that thing was great for going fast, but too many tickets by the bears on the road. The 250 may not be as fast, but you still have a comfortable ride sitting upright or laying on the tank. keep your arms free and close, but don't tighten up your muscles so much. Best thing is use your legs and feet. Again quoting from above, they are so easy to manuever compared to a bigger bike. Don't be afraid either. That will get you. First time I was on a interstate was 10 years ago (holy crap I'm old!) and my eighteen year old *** screamed like Geronimo the whole time... for two miles between exits
BTW, I'm 6'4" and 205lbs, and my top speed on the hiways is about 85. Pretty good for a fat guy on a moped :P Especially an old bike with 22k miles.

saaawwwweeeeet! My buddy got me on his white lighting, and I loved the power of the 1200, but have always been cauttious since I went over the top, per se, and saw I was travelling faster than my own bike. Let me tell ya, its something to be riding one minute, then next your actually looking back at your bike, riderless... Nicholas Cage, eat your heart out! Im the original ghostrider!

Though after that took me a month of sitting on a plastic donut cushion... they still laugh at the office about that one.
