Looks like what you are missing is a competitive rate and most importantly uninsured motorist coverage protection.
I have :
3rd party liability bodily injury 250,000/500,000
3rd party liability property 50,000
Unisured motrorist protection 250,000/500,000
Comprehensive 1,000 deductible
No collision by choice

I pay $320/year on my 2008 250 Ninja through State Farm. Clean record, no accidents, no claims, msf course completion, multi car discount and driving for over 10 years(car) and just got M1 motorcycle endorsement in So.Cal.

My guess is that a large part of your premium is for the collision and you are better off dropping it and putting that money in uninsured motorist coverage. Collision will cover the damage you do to your own bike( max.recovery $3500 if new Ninja 250); uninsured motorist coverage will cover the damage that an idiot without insurance will do to your body(priceless). Which is more important and a better use of your money?

Get more quotes from different companies and you will be shocked at the variance in rates. Mine ranged from $290-$875/year for the same coverage from different companies. Shop around.

for full coverage in houston t, @ age 24 with perfect record, less than 1 year riding:

$110 a month.... approx $1200 a year, full coverage with $250 deducitbles...

i have the bike financed right now.

Some went as high as $10k a year for a 250 for full coverage. I'm now with allstate.

I wish i had $140 a year.

Liability only is not bad if you can afford any damage to the bike or purchasing a new one if it gets stolen or totaled. I hope you could afford another 250 w/ out a problem

My insurance dropped this policy to 200 a year for liability. I didn't get full coverage cause it was $600 something a year
and I only paid $1200 for the bike. So the $400 a year I am saving I can afford to fix the bike and if it gets
stolen I don't count it as a huge loss.

I have been with State Farm for about 20 years now and I pay $14.59 a month for full coverage with same coverage on the bike as I have on my cars. I have a 2008 Ninja 250.
