Default How high does your temp gauge go?

Ok me and the wife went to go get the mail. She jumped on the back. And when we got home she said want to go ride some more? So we took off just cruising around our little city. I noticed going at slow speeds 20-30mph the temp gauge was half-way up or just slightly more then half. But when I hit a road going 35mph it started to cool off.

So when it's hot out and the bike isn't moving is it normal to go half way up. I heard the fan kick on also. Or am i just paranoid.

Oh yea and I changed the oil and filter today also. The bike seems to shift smoother now. Even though the oil I drained was pretty clean, but since I bought the bike used i figured I would change it myself for peace of mind.

Ok cool then it's normal. It's just the first time I noticed that so I was a little worried. Thank god I don't have an air cooled bike. I don't think they would last to long in AZ lol.

My brand new 07 does this also. I think its completely normal. It will get up a little past half way and the fan kicks on going slowly around town. But once you open it up and let more air get into it it cools down pretty quick.

I have a question about temperature gauge as well so instead of making a new post, I hope it's okay to post it here:

I was riding today and it took a while for my temperature to get to a little under halfway (like 45mins of normal riding (20-35mph)). Then when I went up to 60mph for like 1 minute, I checked the temperature and it had dropped back down to about 20-25% of the gauge!

Is there too much coolant over water mixture?

Doubt it, i think u just got that much more airflow in through the radiator going faster... did it go back up after you slowed down?

No it's just more air cooling off the radiator. When I started the thread I just wanted to make sure the bike wasn't overheating.
