12,000 on the bike. The owner before said he adjusted the valves last year when he put a new cam chain tensioner on. it has never run right for him though so mabey he did not adjust them right

Figured I would revive this old thread and let everyone know what the problem was with my bike in case anyone else runs into the same issues I did. I finally got around to working on the bike and the valves were completley out of adjustment. They were so tight that I couldn't get the thinnest feeler gague under the tappet. No that the valves are adjusted properly she runns like a champ! This goes to show that you should never take a seller's word for any work they did on a bike when you are buying it from them. The guy I bought my bike from said the valves were adjusted right and tried to tell me it had carb issues. Turned out carbs were fine and valves needed adjusted. Hope this helps to anyone that comes across this
