Default Have a miss when engine is cold....

When I am warming up the bike you could hear the mis in the exhaust. But when the bike is warmed up it's fine and never misses at all. 04 with 7000 miles on her.

Things are heating up and clearances are getting to where they should be. Normally. I prolly would not be concerned.

Does a miss sound like a small poof sound? When I first start my bike cold I get 3-4 small poofing sounds inbetween the normal sound all close together than never again. If this is what you are experiencing than I think it's normal.

A "poof" to me is incomplete combustion. Kinda similar to my past CR480 when it wanted to jack my **** over the handlebars after it got into the compression stroke. Poof was when it was not enough into the compression stroke and could not build the a/f and combustion. Not sure if this made since though.

Im pretty sure what your hearing is normal, Ive heard mine do the same. You do want to make sure the idle rpms are set correctly they should be between 1200-1400 rpms. The 250 doesnt run as well cold so I dont make any judgements or adjustments until the bikes warmed up.

Ok thanks for the reasurance that nothing is wrong. I guess if it stops running I should get concerned.

Thanks for clearing that up, my idle is set correctly and bounces around 12 to 13 krpm very steadily and once warmed up. While warming up it runs around 800 to 1k rpm with no choke but I usually ride before that happens or leave the choke on to rest at 2.5krpm.
