Question Gas in oil

Hi I am new to this site and new to motorcycles. I have a 96 ninja 250 would only start and stay runnin with choke on. Bike has sat for like 2 years before I got it. Drained the gas out went to change the oil noticed oil smells like gas. Can anyone suggest what the problem is? This bike only has 3700 miles.

The gas in the oil is prbably a sluck carb float. The pilot jet is probably plugged also, so you'll need to pull the carbs and give them a thorough cleaning or get a rebuild kit with new jets and install.

yuppers. Clean the carbs, replace the float seat if it is grooved, may just have some debris stuck. Good luck

Yep -
Clean out the carbs. Main jets might well be gummed up if you can't get it off choke.

In use, gas in the oil can be caused by cool running - Rich mixture from the choke and poor ring seal because the motor isn't up to temperature, so a faulty thermostat or a lot of short cold start journeys can cause this problem.

You might have gas in your oil because you've been running it with the choke on. Sort out the carbs, do an oil change, and see what happens.
