Default fuel filter

Well, the bike has turned 9000 now and I have just noticed something. The 250 has no fuel filter. To alleviate such a problem I have decided to install one. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this will starve it of gas since it has no fuel pump; or is vaccuum and gravity feed enough force to keep things running smoothly?

The 250 sips gas so slowly, it would not starve your engine. There is a fuel strainer inside your tank, but it won't filter out all the small crap in your gas. An inline filter is a good idea, and everyone with a motorcycle should probably consider buying one.

I just took off the main fuel line that goes from the tap's primary positon to the carb float boal, and found the little sleeve /strainer you refer to. (inside carb, and the line). at the fuel intake of the carb. Also, I noticed that thing could barely keep salt crystals from coming through. so I will go get myself a micro filter and install it inline with the primary fuel line. (I figure that I use the reserve so little that it would be insignificant to go through the effort of putting one on the reserve and enricher lines.)

will post in DIY section with corresponding pics

Love the sig... That's awesome..

A fuel filter should not hurt anything. Since it has no fuel pump, a high flow filter might be a good idea. http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductGro...roupID=4001296

If you install a regular filter, with no fuel pump, you might run into a vapor lock type problem on those warm days..

There are quite a few different high flows out there... Jcwhitney has some good prices on them...

thx bigrig...the cagers just won't learn

and thx for the links, because the local autoshops have got NOTHING!! I don't even know how these stores can stay open anymore if they don't carry anything. The inevitable response is,"we can order it." To which I reply, "so can I...".

Ya, the local auto stores look at us like we are crazy!! lol lol

They seem to carry crap that is worthless anymore... Who needs their choice of 25 different kinds of armor all. I'd rather they have the spark plugs in stock that I need....

I know there was a paper Hi flow that was cheap..around 10 bucks or so, but I can't remember who made it... Dang old age...lol
