my buddy and i were talking about this the other day. I think i am going to do it. i was going to custom fab all the piping, and replace the pistons(lower the compresion). and run around 8psi. it mite be fun. i bet it will be as fast as a 600 too.

120.9 with a turbo? That's crazy. It should do a whole lot more than that. I have an '08 250R with Yoshi exhaust and going on a very slight down grade (almost flat) highway, I got it up to 118mph and it was still climbing and it was very shakey as well. Turbo should easily put you about 128-135.

Exhaust with a new kit can get you 8-10hp and changing the sproket can get you maybe another 1-2hp putting you easily at the speed-O without spending money on a turbo...

I have been thinking of one...but I dont even own a Ninja (yet) so I have to wait. Why doesn't someone pull the pistons out of one, mill the top down and/or throw on a thicker or multiple head gaskets(to lower compression) and throw a turbo on that bad boy?
Why bother? It would make more sense to just buy a 600.
hmm another error. Will wait for this to pass then.

Maybe his 120.9 was GPS verified, our Speedo's are off by about 10% which means his speedometer 132.99.

I don't think I have heard of any pre-08 ninja 250 with just an exhaustgoing to 118. I think there has been a few that went to 110.

I dont know, it could be a slug off the line though. By my thinking you would have to drop compression to get much benefit from the turbo. Then to keep from taching out you would have to lower your final drive ratio. Well that would give you absolutley no power untill the turbo spools up. Could be a double edge sword there...

^^^You're basically describing any turbocharged engine. Yes, until the turbo kicks in there is very little power, but when it does you have about a 50% increase on a mild turbocharged application. So if a stock 250 is 27HP, you are then working with around 41HP when that turbo spools...

Now a stock 250 vs. a turbo'd 250, the stock would be beating it for the first 30 ft. But once the turbo kicks in, the turbo'd 250 would kick butt...

Turbo lag also depends on application. If you think the engine will have enough power on it's own up high, you can put a TINY turbo on it which would have basically ZERO lag but wont keep up in the high RPM's and will choke the engine. If you want it to add to the power up high and you want to sacrafice your lower end, put a large turbo on there that would have a 5min lag time (exadgeration) but will keep up with the air flow all the way to redline... It's all about balancing the right size turbo for the application...
