man your not kidding the 500r is just as hopeless. but we don't make it a habbit to leave our helmets on the bikes here because these darn kids with the mopeds like to cut them off the bikes and take them for thier own. dirty rotten scoundrels....

RE: Factory Ninja 250R helmet lock impossible to work with?
My solution is to take about a 14-15 mm wrench and stick the closed end through the helmet strap buckle and then lock the closed end into the lock. the open end is too large to pass through and secures it pretty good. It goes in fairly easily once you figure out how to work it in there, and then I rest the helmet on the passenger's footpeg with a glove to keep it from getting scratched.
With this rig the only thing to fear is the strap getting cut, or as stated before, some wiseass scooter punk playin a prank.
Interestingly enough, it was on this forum that I learned this trick, but it was about a year ago and I can't recall the exact thread or who said it.

I haven't returned to this forum for some time. While at the Stealership, I saw this little du-hicky:
It actually came in a package of two, and only cost $4.95. It still doesn't solve the hot exhaust issue, but at least I can get the freakin' helmet locked down now without fighting the strap.
