Default Exhaust Leak or Factory?

Okay, so I had a little runin withthe curb and went flying into the grass about a week and a half ago. Repairs to the paint job and fairing cracks are underway, but after running it to keep the gas in the carbs fresh I notice air blowing over my foot as i'm standing there warming her up. I've never worn open toed shoes while warming her up nor have I stood on the right side (impact side) while warming so I would not know whether this is normal operation or not. My guess is no.

Things I noticed: Scrape and dent on right side muffler that does not go through the pipe
Above mentioned leak is from the underside, scrape is on the side
Leak comes from a hole drilled by the factory
symmetrical hole on the left muffler does not leak

Therefore, I have a favor to ask of the 250 Ninja owners here and that is to see if you have exhaust comin out of your right hand muffler. The hole I'm referring to will be where the muffler meets the pipe on the underside. I will post a pic at the end of this post. Any help will be appreciated!

The exhaust scoring around the hole is identical to the scoring on the other side (although difficult to see on left due to centerstand bracket welded into it.)

is there a rivet suppossed to be there? The impact may have snapped the rivet. Did you look on the Left side too see if there are any there?

no, this is a factory drilled hole.

when picking up the replacement parts from the stealership I took the liberty to look at the exhaust on a brand new one and the hole is there as well.

It might be a factory thing incase you get some water in the exhaust it drains out there so it doesn't damage the pipe

That is exactly what a friend of mine has said, and considering that the one at the dealer had it, I find that conclusion to be well substantiated. Worry relieved! Now on to the rest of repairs....
