Default electrical problems?

I have a 2005 ninja 250 1984 miles on it. It has been sitting for 2 years, anyways trying to get some life back into the thing, cleaned the carbs did all that but the only way i can get the engine to start is if i give it full throttle then i hit the starter it revs up to about 6k and as soon as i let off the starter the engine dies. im thinking i have a short or something, any info will help. Thank you.

Welcome to KF.

I would start over again on your carb cleaning, adjust the float height to the recommended settings, verify all hoses and all parts are tight and clean. Check your choke cable adjustment, and the fuel petcock cleanliness. Then I would toss my gauges on to check the synchronization of the carbs. Just K.I.S.S. Oh, you do have a clean fuel tank with good gas I would imagine? Good luck

Your pilot jets are still plugged. Dig back into the carbs.
