I hope you ride with a shock.

Yes a sound clip would be cool also.

I too would like to hear the 250 without the baffles. The 500 shock is adjustable right?

How'd you drill out the baffles? DIY??? I'd like to do something like that, there is no oomph to the exhaust note.

And how's the ex500 shock different in terms of feel?

Although I have never used the 500 shock on my bike, I know it is a bit stiffer than the 250's shock. Plus, I think you can adjust it too. I started looking on ebay for an ex500 shock, but there isn't much available. At least not any from a newer 500.

I can't remember exactly who posted it, but I believe there was a post at one time about drilling out the end rivets and modifying the muffler.

I just checked it out, it was posted by c10 but he didn't really show any steps on how to do it, just what he did.

Can anyone give me some pointers? I'm doing a few things to my bike this weekend and would like to get a nicer sound out of the exhaust.

for drilling out the baffles, i went to home depot and bought myself an extra long 1/2inch drill bit. i think the drill bit was about a foot long and i just stuck it down the end of each pipe and drilled.
as for the rear shock. i got it off of ebay for 30 bucks and it came off a 06 ex500. it lowered the bike about half an inch but sits higher when i ride it (less sag). i feel more confident taking turns now since i can feel the rear tire a little bit more. my next mod would be replacing the front springs with something better

So you just stick it in and drill? Do you have to worry about anything getting clogged while you drill?

For 30 bucks, that's a great deal. I was riding on the freeway and felt real uncomfortable with the level of softness the rear has.

I know exactly what you mean by that. Sometimes it feels like the rear tire is drifting, or floating a little while taking corners.[&:]
