break in
guys and gals,
man, i just got to admit that this break-in process is just taking too long. here's my thing, i got the bike 3 weeks ago and i have gone as far as 9k rpm i tried to do what's recommended but funk i'm just having a hard time. and i read about post regarding exhaust pipe upgrade
before the 1k mark. i guess my question is how many 08 owners have followed the recommended break in? i hate to say that i did not!

RE: break in
It's good that you didn't. Kawasaki's break-in procedure is very conservative and damage proof, but you will never get the full potential that way. During break-in you should always vary the RPM's and get the revs up every once and awhile. It is also a good idea to change your oil whith in 100 miles or so.

thanks,i feel so much better now i'm pushing 250 miles with varied rpm range not to exceed the 14k rpm most riding are done in the sf bay area back roads. btw i ride a black with rear cowl and a fender elim. exhaust will come after break in.

RE: break in
I have never followed the manufactuers break in for anything. When I first get the bike, car, boat, what ever I always let it idle a little longer, say 5 mins the first time I turn it on. Then I ride like I would every day but don't wring it out wot. If I do its for a quick short breif period.
Think about all the test riders or people who review the newest and latest crop. Do you think they break the bike in before they hit the track. Do you ever see them say well we are going to test the new ..........whatever but first we have to break it in so we will update you 600 miles later.
No, they just hop on it, let it warm up and then ripp it.

RE: break in
i actually tried the process but it's just wasn't working. i'm pushing 400 miles and i've gone as far as 8k around 65 mph and varying rpm
to tell you the truth the bike sound better around the 8k range. my goal is to reach gradually the 80 mile an hour mark before the 1k
break-in period.
