Im from Connecticut and looking for a begginer bike...
I heard Ninja 250s were perfect begginer bikes, but I can't find any for sale in the CT area!
E-mail me at And1bbaii7@aol.com if you are selling one or know anybody selling one for 2 or under 2 grand.

what part of CT are you from. I'm located in Danbury.
You can check out
cycletrader.com
100motorcycles.com
also on ctmotorcyles.com I found these:

2000 Kawasaki Ninja EX250 2 Cylinder, 4-stroke 250cc Motor,MINT condition! Green fairings/purple rims, only 2K mi, adult owned/operated, all stock, no modifications, dealer serviced at scheduled 500 mile service /maintenance, never dropped, not a scratch on it, cleaned after every ride!! Must see/ride!!! $2800 email: dfgreco@hewitt.com

1997 Ninja 500EX- red, low low miles, perfect entry level sport bike, red helmet $3000 OBO also a 2000 CBR 600F4- 4500 miles, all stock, blk/orange, mint condition, transferable service warranty good for next 4 years email qtpunkin21@aol.com

I found my bike on cycletrader.com. I had to drive down to Long Island, but it was worth it. $4500 '03 636 2k miles.
So I would advise checking out that site. Also, go to Maricus Dairy on sundays and check around the lot, if anyone is selling a good deal.

I think 500cc are great starter bikes. Ask Bluebird or Mr. Toad or Shon.
About buying new or used. That is your call. I don't know how much a new 250 or 500 runs, but if you get a new one from a dealer, I guess when your ready (and maybe you will stay with the bike you first pick up) to move up, the dealer will cut you a deal because you bought it from them.

Let me know, I could help you out.

I started out on a 500. Last year was my first season on it. I have had no problems with it. The seat height is about an inch or so taller than the 250 and it also weighs more. The 500 has adjustable clutch and brake levers - which is awesome if you have smaller hands (I'm not sure if the 250 has this option or not - but I would imagine it does)! I guess it all comes down to what you are more comfortable with - imo they are both great starter bikes. Go sit on a couple and see what you like better. The 250's are a sportier looking than the 500. I personally bought used because it was cheaper. When buying new don't forget about all the additional fees they tack on. Here it was the price of the bike, plus freight, tire tax, taxes and blah blah blah.
