They can be taken out but it's a pain in the butt. I did mine. They're welded together quite well. I couldn't tell you what it sounds like yet. I haven't put the mufflers back on yet. They have to be a little quieter than my current setup. I took two 12" pieces of exhaust tubing, put 7" baffles in them and mounted them up. It barks pretty loud. You don't notice it as much when you're going down the road though with all the wind noise and such. Some would say it's obnoxious sounding but I kinda like it. I just wanted it to be louder. I like to hear what I'm riding/driving. Yes, I could have gone with an aftermarket exhaust but I only have around $30.00 in my current system and debaffling the stockers only cost me a container of Dremel cutoff wheels plus the rivets I haven't found yet. I have to put the endcaps back on yet. As soon as I find some expander rivets I'll get them popped back on. Can't wait to see how it sounds with them on. I'll keep you posted.

You may want to rejet your carbs though if you take the baffles out. You'll reduce backpressure on the exhaust, which in turn makes the engine breathe more. Without having more fuel flow, you could make it run lean.

I removed mine like 3 days afer i got it. pretty easy realy. all i did was drill out the rivets, then with a screwdriver, and carefully placed towell so you dont mess up the finish, i pryed the baffels out. keep in mind that when you pry them out you have to work it all the way around then you reall have to put some force to finally pop it out. also unless youre handy with a hammer you probably wont be able to put them back on. now the sound... its pretty loud when compared to stock. i like it alot. i have friends with bigger bikes and some of them like it better than theirs. if you want to know exactly how it sounds it sounds exactly to the T. just like the new 2 bros slip ons. granted they look like 10x better than stock, but cost a lot more too.
