Am I to big for a 250?
How it going? Well, im in the market for my first bike, after a little research I like the Kawasaki Ninja. 250 or 500. My initial reason for getting a bike is my truck is sucking gas and the gas prices are crazy! After look for economical reasons are starting getting sucked in and just wanted bigger and better, BUT......I sticking with my first reasons which is gas mileage.
From what I read, the 250 has the best and I like the price, but I am worried it will not have enough power for me or I wont fit right on it. I am 6'4" and 240 lbs. Im not looking to tear down the street but I dont want to put down the street either. If I give it gas I want it to go, I dont want the engine racing but not going anywhere. What do you guys think? Would a 250 work or do I need at least a 500. Thanks for the info.
After reading and looking into bikes I'm excited about getting one and look foward to being a part of the biker community. Never thought it would happen, but I cant wait to get one!

RE: Am I to big for a 250?
I'm 6'1 and 200 lbs. and I just got a ninja 250 as my first bike, and it has plenty of power for me. I was actually quite suprised by how quick and fun it is to ride. Your a little bigger than me so I hope someone chips in here that might be closer to your size, but my first instinct would be to tell you that you'll be fine and really enjoy the 250. If you can afford the extra couple thousand than the 500 is def. worth looking into though. Go sit on both at a dealer and see which one feels right for you. Hope I helped a little

Another input.
First, I am just under 180#, 6'2" but my inseam is 35".
Height-wise I feel OK, but I always have felt right with my legs folded up under me- REALLY dislike the "sit up and beg" cruiser position
As far as weight, Friday I took my 120# daughter out for a brief ride. Not too bad for about 300# total- (just about the weight of the bike itself) won't set any speed records but acceptable performance.
But everybody is different as to how they feel on any bike.
I too bought the 250R for the gas economy and for the light weight.
Good luck
John
