The abilities of the bike are much less important than Bike/Rider compatability IMO
I still will concur with the rider and the ride compatibility and what you expect out of your riding. good post.

i ride my 250 30 miles one way to school and i coast around 75-80 mph (10,000rpm). im 5'11" and 210 lbs and the 250 has plenty enough power for the freeway. my only complaint is that my legs start to ache after 30 mins or so and the bike eats a lot of oil while on the freeway (normal)

High oil consumption is never a normal thing. My 250R only needed about 2-3 ounces of oil after 1700 miles of hard riding.

The oil loss is what I am pondering on. The 250's consume that much oil during that time frame?

Using less than half a quart at almost 2000 miles is pretty damn good in my opinion.

It depends on the bike some use more oil than others. Some you will find it in the air box and others it slips past the rings, this has been blamed on the soft break in Kawasaki recommends, most ends up in the bottom of the airbox though which is a design of the breather tube not the break in.

They hardly hold any oil at all in the first place 1.9 qt 1.5 on an oil change, it dosnt take much loss for it to be low. I just make sure I check it at the end of the day when I put it in the barn. I cant manage to leave the house in enough time to check it before I leave.

I have never used much I have 9K miles on it and spend a fair amount of time wringing its neck, I have had to top it off a few times between changes but its only a few ounces. Also on long trips 100+ youll want to check it during the trip, the 5 min it takes will save your engine.

The oil use is not a concern, letting it get low is. I am buying a second 250 and if the oil use was a concern I certainly wouldnt get another one.
