250 and 5-11 240
Hey everyone!
I have been reading posts and i ran across one saying that you shoulnt ride a 250 on southern cali freeways. Im a big guy for a 250 according to some folks but i will be a new rider and i dont want something that i will not be comfortable on, i have been to the dealer about 4 times and the 250 simply feels really really comfortable to me out of all the bikes. I am just looking for something to save me gas from my gussling Gt mustang and something to have a bit of fun with as well. My ? is can i truly ride on the freeway with no problem or should i wait for something bigger, I need to know if the people saying you shouldnt ride on the freeway just mean that since its a small bike you shoulnt ride on the freeway at around 80 mph or if it will damage the bike because i dont want to do that. The speedo says 130 mph so i dont see what the problem is keeping up with traffic but i am a new rider and want to get input from experienced riders.

I don't really have any problems with my 250R while on the highway. It will definitely keep up if that's your biggest concern. I have had it up to 110 before. (according to the speedo, not the officer's radar gun!
) My complaint with the 250 on long rides is that your *** will get very numb after 1 1/2 - 2 hours. (not much for seat padding) Plus, there isn't much for wind deflection either besides your entire body.
It's a real nice bike to have especially in town, but using it as a daily commuter on the highway would get rather punishing for me after a while. I would personally want something bigger if I had to use the highway for much of my daily travelings.
