2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - Overheat Light
Hey Guys,
This bike got over 1,700 miles, when I first got it I noticed the temp light went off whenever I warm up the bike or drive at low speeds in the city with too much traffic, but today something different has happened since the weather is now in the 70s, I started hearing water boiling, steam came out then coolant water started leaking from the tube at the bottom of the bike, I've been told this shouldn't happen. Coolant level is perfect, but I never heard the fan working period!!! at first I thought temp light on is normal when I'm in the city ( I'm a new rider) but after reading owner's manual I noticed this shouldn't happen unless there is something wrong, please let me know what do you think?

Saf, don't continue to run your bike until you get this sorted out. I would check your thermostat, rad fan thermal switch, fan (no restrictions, working properly), for starters. Take a look at your engine oil to make sure there's no coolant contamination. On a 2012 I would not think a head gasket would be an issue, but....these are the symptoms. Hopefully it will be one of the simple items I mentioned, if not, try a compression check. Keep us posted.

I took it to the dealer and guess what:
1. Due to the leakage the reservoir was empty and radiator was very low in coolant .
2. Fan fuse was popped out , warmer weather has made this issue more noticeable water boiling, steam, and leakage (overflow). The thing I'm trying to understand is why the fuse popped out????
3. We made sure the fan is working.
